Al is an anxious young cartoonist hoping to find his creative and personal footing at an artists’ retreat. There, he meets fearless underground queer artists whose unfiltered work amplifies the feelings Al is wrestling with. Complicating matters is his crush on his best friend, Jesse, a fellow artist. When another cartoonist flirts with Jesse, the love triangle forces Al to confront and admit his desires. Suddenly, he is navigating jealousy, artistic ambition, and a secret love while wrestling with the fear of exposing both his true feelings and the more provocative side of his work.
Distinctive animation sequences bring Al’s fantasies and frustrations to life, creating a playful visual language that mirrors the chaos unfolding inside his head. With trans folks in front of and behind the camera, and executive produced by Lilly Wachowski, SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME is a touching trans rom-com about navigating the sea of anxiety that every young person in love faces.
