Synopsis

Mexico 1994: presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio is assassinated at a political rally in Tijuana and a separatist group calling itself The Zapatistas, led by a charismatic pipe-smoking masked man, emerges from Chiapas. It’s also the year Sofía (Sofía Islas Herrer) will turn fifteen and she hates the idea of having a quinceañera. She has moved to a new neighborhood and is bored out of her mind. The monotony disappears when Sofía meets Eva (Ana Valeria Becerril), a girl with a rebellious attitude, with whom she will discover the love and disappointments that come with adolescence.

Directed by Marcelino Islas Hernández, MY GIRLFRIEND IS THE REVOLUTION is a rambunctious and charming coming-of-age story about finding love, enduring heartbreak, and making mischief, as well as a stunning acting showcase for both young leads, who find out growing up is inevitable.
