Christine, Alex, and Stéphane are a Toronto throuple whose satisfying, busy life together is thrown for an unexpected loop when Christine learns she’s pregnant. Before they can absorb the meaning of this change, together or individually, the group heads off to rural Canada to attend a family wedding. To make matters more emotionally complicated, once there, the three must also contend with Christine's judgmental conservative family and their traditional views of throuplehood.
I COME HOME is more than a touching film about the sustainability of polyamory—it is an examination of the qualities that make any relationship sustainable at all, regardless of whether the members are straight, gay, bisexual, and in a couple, or more. By comparing and contrasting a loving trio in a crisis with a thoroughly miserable straight marriage, I COME HOME examines the inevitable ways that we let our partners down, and celebrates how coming back from disappointment can only make a loving relationship even stronger.
