Hunky Jesus

Bless us, Sisters, for we are in need of joy and laughter! HUNKY JESUS explores the legacy of the San Francisco chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a global, secular order of queer and trans “nuns” who combat guilt, shame, and exclusion through joy, humor, activism, and irreverence.

Director Jennifer M. Kroot weaves together interviews with some of the most storied Sisters and friends, including Sisters Roma and Vish Knew and Saint Honey Mahogany, with archival footage from the earliest days of the Sisters’ emergence into prominence and extravagance, to create an unforgettable portrait of some of the most glamorous, glitzy, and giving members of our community.
